Gallery in the Attic

Home of the Little Red Hen

ABOUT

Gallery in the Attic (GITA) is a member-supported exhibition space, owned and operated by independent curator Elizabeth Fennell (BA, Hon., MMC). Founded in August of 2012, GITA is a retail exhibition space for locally based artists of all mediums, a community darkroom, and an occasional music venue.

Taking as its inspiration the Little Red Hen children’s story about cooperative bread making, GITA aims to create a community hub where local artists have a vested interest in each others’ success.

GITA is located on the third floor of the historic Roy Studio building, a designated landmark in Peterborough’s downtown core, also home to the Peterborough Darkroom Project (an emerging non-profit project whose members are restoring and operating Canada’s longest continuously operating analog darkroom). With three exhibition spaces, GITA can host multiple solo exhibits, multi-artist group shows, workshops, events, and other artistic happenings.
