Music Series at the Attic

This August we tried something new: bringing bands into the space for intimate musical evenings in the gallery. It was a phenomenal success and we plan to program more musical events in the future.

Thursday’s featured artist was DREA, backed up by Sean P Conway as featured in the photo.

Monday: Dear Bay – $5

Dear Bay was formed in the winter of 2012. Long dark nights in Peterborough with no dog to walk, Kelly Pineault and Clay Prater started playing music together. Clay is a seasoned songwriter/singer crafting songs in the hopeless, wayfarer, heartache filled, troubadour vein drawn from the confluence of bluegrass and blues traditions native to the Ozark Mountains. Kelly Pineault (former member of the Silver Hearts) brings sweet, yet melancholy vocal and accordion contributions that offer a countered optimism to the duos overall sound. Come and join us as we kick off the music week series at Gallery in the Attic.

Tuesday: Rob Hailman & Jan Campeau – $5

Rob Hailman, better known from Peterborough rock bands No Pussyfooting and the Beautiful Losers, plays traditional and contemporary folk music on voice, guitar, and autoharp. He’ll be joined by Peterborough musical scene newcomer, Jan Campeau, on acoustic finger-style, bluegrass instrumental guitar.

Wednesday: David Ross MacDonald with Scott Galloway & Benjamin Rollo – $15

Hailing from Australia, David has been called “one of those few songwriters like Nick Drake, Conor Oberst (Bright Eyes), and Josh Ritter that can captivate his listeners armed only with a voice and guitar” -American Songwriter Magazine

Thursday: DREA – $8

Currently hailing from Dawson city YT, Peterborough ex-pat Drea has just finished performances with DCMF and Wanda Jackson. On her way to Europe for a 5th tour, she’s taking a pit-stop in her old stompin’ grounds. New music can be found on drea1.bandcamp.com and on her FB page, Like: Drea

Friday: John Rose – $5

JR writes soft blues songs about love, land and the plight of the working class. His sound has a confused disposition and love for the drink.

Saturday: Chic’n’Pot Pi – $10 or PWYC

This six-piece group of bass, guitar, horns, drums and vocals is a “Jazzin’ Swingin’ Bloozin’” good time.
